The Meaning of Home

At the fall event on October 18, 2011, ICCF introduced a brand-new DVD about its housing services and programs. This succinct look at our work was produced by Azkoul Productions, and ICCF is deeply grateful to Mark and Anne Azkoul for their gift of time and talent to provide us with an engaging tool to tell our story. Several ICCF staff members and clients share their experience on the video to explain what we do and how it makes a difference in peoples’ lives.

Come See My Home
ICCF Children’s Art Exhibit
December 5, 2011 – March 3, 2012

Children’s artwork is currently on exhibit at ICCF, 920 Cherry Street.  The 30 drawings were made in October at a few workshops with children who live in ICCF housing or whose parents attend classes at ICCF.  Invited to dream about what their ideal home would look like the children included features in their drawings such as fish tanks, secret hiding places, gardens, trampolines, pools, garages and basketball hoops.  The simplicity and the bright colors along with the commentary make for a delightful display. Open for your viewing pleasure M-F, 9-4.

Sixteen in Six (16 in 6) – A New Record

What do those numbers mean?
What’s a new record?
The answer is ICCF completed sales on 16 homes in six months!!

Despite the weak housing market and the tough mortgage requirements, we were still able to help 16 families become first time homeowners.  That is very good news!  The activity brought our inventory down to one house and brought funds to our general operations.  More good news!

Here’s another set of numbers – 1400 in 12

In a recent 12-month reporting period for Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), ICCF helped 1400 families with foreclosure.  To help you conceptualize the magnitude of that impact, it is roughly equivalent to the number of families living in the Alger Heights neighborhood.  That's impressive when one considers that only 3 counselors in our Housing & Family Services department are dedicated to foreclosure work.

Teaching Values By Example

What better way is there to teach your children about your values than to role model them?
We are privileged to see grandparents and parents teaching their children and grandchildren
about the importance of charitable giving.  We are blessed to see children respond.
